At IGIB, we share our excitement for science and our recent discoveries through various events spread over the whole academic year. We host day-long exhibitions, called Open Day, for groups of school and college students who visit our facilities to get to know the infrastructural facilities at IGIB and interact informally with scientists and research scholars. NGOs which work with children who may not be enrolled in regular schools have also been regularly attending the Open Day. Many members of the IGIB faculty work with individual schools and colleges to streamline science curricula, co-curricular activities and projects.

The CSIR-IGIB Open Days, 2018

  • The students, in groups of 20-25, accompanied by Ph.D scholars, go on a guided tour of the facilities at IGIB. They also watch science related movies and engage with Ph.D scholars in discussions. A dedicated space of 1500sq ft. is converted into an exhibition area with stalls designed around specific themes. The stalls incorporate simple concepts drawn from the school curriculum, built up further to inform the audience of how that concept is used in research at IGIB.

    IGIB goes to schools

IGIB scientists visit school science exhibitions and contribute as judges and guests by engaging with the students and providing advice on the schools science activities. To schedule a visit please write to outreach@igib.in
