Clinical proteomics research
Sagarika Biswas is interested in proteomic, phosphoproteomic and glycoproteomic studies of rheumatoid arthritis and coronary artery disease.
Her research focuses on:
- Identification of proteins, with altered phosphorylation, glycosylation in the sera, synovial fluid/synovial tissues of rheumatoid arthritis and in the plasma of Coronary artery disease.
- Functional analysis of phosphoprotein and molecular characterization of phosphokinase.
She has identified disease-specific autoantigens in the synovial fluid of rheumatoid arthritis patients for understanding the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases and defining markers for detection of preclinical autoimmune disorders. Her lab has also identified autoantibodies against transthyretin for screening and diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis.
